Forced to flee Syria, Jîn Dawod is proving that healing can cross every border.
UN SDG Action Awards Changemaker winner Jîn Dawod is transforming her lived experience as a Syrian refugee into Peace Therapist—an award-winning platform providing free online mental health services to vulnerable populations.
In a world where 122.6 million people are forcibly displaced and trauma, depression, and anxiety are widespread, Jîn is pioneering a model that blends refugee leadership, digital innovation, and mental health equity.
Her journey began when she fled Raqqa, Syria, to Türkiye as a teenager. Facing PTSD and no access to therapy in her language, she built what she needed: Peace Therapist. Today, it connects people to therapy in Arabic, Kurdish, Turkish, and English through AI-powered psychologist matching, crisis support, and a network of 150 psychologists.
The impact is global: 70,000+ people across 26 countries have already accessed care through Peace Therapist, breaking down barriers of language, cost, and stigma. Jîn’s leadership has earned her the 2024 UNHCR Nansen Refugee Award for Europe and the Youth Leadership and Innovation Award by GFMD, bringing her voice to the UN, the European Parliament, and global tech forums.
Join us in spotlighting the Heroes of Tomorrow. From building platforms that heal to breaking barriers in mental health access, winners like Jîn Dawod show that inclusive leadership is leadership that lasts.
