Consumers have reduced their food waste by 14.000 tons in 6 years with the help of the Stop Wasting Food movement
The impact of Stop Wasting Food movement is tremendous: according to the latest numbers from the Danish EPA, the Danish consumers have reduced their food waste by 14.000 tons in 6 years, equivalent to 8%. The aim of the Stop Wasting Food movement is to actively work with implementation of UN Sustainable Development Goal 12.3 - to stop global food losses and food waste. Stop Wasting Food targets the consumers, who start a chain reaction and target the industry and retailers to stop wasting food. We create results: in soon 11 years, Stop Wasting Food has initiated the fight against food waste in Denmark. Since 2008, we have both initiated and participated in over 200 local, national and international projects, events, campaigns, charity projects, research projects, debates and many other activities in the fight against food waste - also in together with EU and UN. The Stop Wasting Food movement was startet some 11 years ago, back in 2008. Stop Wasting Food movement also gives over 300 tons of good surplus food to charity, involving 500+ volunteers and businesses. Stop Wasting Food movement also helped launching the sale of "ugly" vegetables and a "food waste" ketchup, saving 70 tons og "ugly" tomatoes in 2018. Stop Wasting Food movement is transformative and inspires and empowers people from all over the world to stop wasting food. In a BCC documentary with Stop Wasting Food movement, the facebook video of the BBC documentary got over 30 million views and inspired people from all over the world to stop wasting food. When you waste food, you waste your time, your money and you waste the climate. The work of the Stop Wasting Food movement has a positive impact on climate as well as responsible production and consumption.

Stop Wasting Food movement is founded by Selina Juul and is is Denmark’s largest non-profit movement against food waste. Since its foundation in 2008, Stop Wasting Food helped bringing massive focus on food waste on Denmark’s agenda and has achieved a large number of results in Denmark, in collaboration with the Danish Government, EU and UN. Stop Wasting Food has national and international collaborations and support of over 67,000 people, a number of leading top politicians and acknowledged food personalities. Stop Wasting was is featured in national and international media over 8.000 times - among others on BBC and CNN.
