UK Stakeholders for Sustainable Development

A project by UKSSD Network Director: Emily Auckland

UKSSD creates a space for organisations in the UK to work together to drive action on the SDGs. We use our collective voice to inform, influence and inspire.
UK Stakeholders for Sustainable Development (UKSSD) creates a space for organisations in the UK to work together to drive action on the Sustainable Development Goals.

Our network has over 100 Partner organisations and more than a 1000 in its wider network. We represent all sectors and industries in the UK.

Our approach is simple: we create physical and virtual spaces where organisations can connect, identify their common cause and take actions that are needed to deliver the SDGs in the UK. We break down the barriers that exist between sectors and industries, so they can create the transformational changes needed to deliver the SDGs.

We want to make sure that the UK is delivering the SDGs domestically, and that its activities have a positive impact globally.

To ensure our activities have a meaningful impact on the SDGs, in 2018 we published the world’s first comprehensive stakeholder-led review on national progress in a report called Measuring up.

Measuring up assesses how the UK is performing on each of the SDGs, it identifies the greatest challenges facing our country and the opportunities for action. More than 100 organisations contributed to the research, and it was launched at the Houses of Parliament in July 2018.

UKSSD has grown significantly in the last year. Measuring up has been downloaded over 4000 times and is being used as an input in to the UK Government’s Voluntary National Review. We’ve had social media reach exceeding 225,000 in 6 months and our events have been attended by over 600 organisations.

Now we have Measuring up we can focus on mobilising stakeholders in the UK to take action to ensure the UK achieves the SDGs by 2030.

Our activities and strategy are managed by a Steering Group of Partner organisations.

About the Organization /Team

UKSSD was set up in 2015. Our mission, strategy and activities are shaped by our Partner organisations and then prioritised by a Steering Group who oversee the work of a small secretariat.

We are not a legal entity and have over 100 Partners who represent a variety of sectors and industries. They help shape and guide our strategy and deliver our activities.
