Young Minds Matter


An educational challenge for young artists, given them a platform to produce an international multidisciplinary festival. implemented in Tanzania, Portugal, UK.
Supporting The Young Creative Leaders ambition of developing 10,000 Artists, Social Entrepreneurs and Leaders for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The Young Minds Matter Programme is an educational simulation with youth leadership at its core. In this project young artists are given a platform to participate or produce an international multidisciplinary festival. The conditions of the simulation controlled by the young creative leaders, focuses on artists developing entrepreneurial and leadership skills.

The simulation consists of 3 collaborative projects which participants can elect to join, as well as 12 leadership opportunities which are significant to the development and execution on the festival. The project focuses more on the 12 leadership role while the projects providing a collaborative simulation for artists. The festival element of the program gives artists of different creative backgrounds a platform to showcase and sell work. The festival brings together performance in theatre, dance, painting, drawing, illustration, installation, photography, music, and cinema. The festival also consists of Creative development workshops, panel discussions and a marketplace.

This Programs brief history started in 2015 at Leeds Beckett University, in the UK with 30 local and international artists of different artistic disciplines. In 2016 we worked with 60 artists at EKA Palace in Lisbon (Portugal), we also prototyped the simulation in Tanzania with the support of Youth of United Nations Association. In 2017 we worked with over 100 artists at Anjos 70, . In 2018 we implemented ymm in Belgium (Brussels) with participation from 35 artists, also in Lisbon at Anjos 70 with over 100 participate.

Over the last 4 years we have engaged a total of 2.020 general public members in the 4 countries we implemented the Young Minds Matter (Tanzania, Portugal, Belgium and United Kingdom). Our online reach engaged up to 52.800 people, sharing artistic response to the SDG

About the Organization /Team

Elevate Young Minds is a youth driven movement, that gives young artists a platform to act on current global issues. We intensively engage our members in creative volunteering and leadership opportunities, to help them develop innovative approaches to addressing global issues. A movement that supports the development of emerging artists creative practice and mindset for sustainability within the creative industries and other industries.
