Wearing a protective mask can prove challenging for those who are deaf and hard of hearing, as they are unable to read the lips or see the faces of the people they are talking to. To overcome this issue, volunteers in Belgium have been crafting transparent face masks, which has generated a national buzz! In the town of Deinze, over 160 volunteers sewed 1,200 of the transparent masks in just five days. Brochage-Renaitre, a book-binding business in Brussels, which employs mainly individuals with disabilities, has transformed its operations and trained its staff to make the transparent masks. To date the business has made approximately 10,000 masks!
