What if the people most affected by human trafficking were the ones leading the fight to end it?
That’s the vision of Footprint to Freedom, UN SDG Action Awards Resilience finalist founded by Malaika Oringo. A survivor herself, Malaika built the initiative to empower survivors as leaders, advocates, and reformers in their own right.
Footprint to Freedom is also reshaping how the world views survivors—not as silent victims, but as experts, reformers, and catalysts for systemic change. From the grassroots to the global stage, its advocacy is challenging stereotypes, reframing policies, and ensuring survivor voices are heard where decisions are made.

With 50,000+ people reached, 500+ partnerships, and the creation of the African Survivor Coalition spanning 54 countries, Footprint to Freedom is proving that resilience is not just survival—it’s systemic change.
Working across Africa and Europe, Footprint to Freedom is reshaping how the world confronts human trafficking—showing that when survivors lead, freedom follows.
